Important Update: TLS/SSL Certificate Lifetime Changes

Friday, 13th March, 2026 00:00am

Dear Valued Customers,

We would like to inform you about an upcoming industry-wide change affecting TLS/SSL certificates, which secure websites and online services.

Major browser vendors, including Apple and Google, have approved a new policy that will gradually shorten the maximum lifetime of TLS certificates over the coming years.

What’s Changing?

The maximum validity period for TLS certificates will decrease as follows:

Until 15 March 2026: 398 days
From 15 March 2026: 200 days
From 15 March 2027: 100 days
From 15 March 2029: 47 days

Additionally, the time that domain validation can be reused will also be reduced, reaching just 10 days by 2029.

Why Is This Happening?

These changes aim to strengthen internet security by:

• Ensuring certificate information stays accurate and up to date
• Reducing the impact of compromised or revoked certificates
• Encouraging automated certificate management

What Does This Mean for You?

Manual certificate renewal will become increasingly difficult in the future. Because of this, automation will become the standard approach to managing SSL/TLS certificates.

The good news is that this change does not increase certificate costs, as most providers use subscription-based pricing regardless of renewal frequency.
